Bruce Jackson

I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1976 and have nearly 50 years’ experience in livestock health, including 18 years in large-animal practice and 31 years in government veterinary work. I also spent four years working in Zimbabwe before returning to Australia. I retired from Biosecurity Tasmania in 2017 and now work as a veterinary consultant. I coordinate the Tasmanian Livestock Health Monitoring Network, which collects and reports information about livestock diseases and other animal health conditions occurring across Tasmania. My main focus is practical production-animal health. I have extensive experience with sheep, particularly ovine footrot, worm control and drench resistance, disease investigation, flock health and on-farm biosecurity. I am also happy to provide advice about cattle, pigs, goats and deer. I can also assist with general poultry health and biosecurity enquiries, including advice relevant to avian influenza preparedness.
